Each Tuesday Tam over at the Gypsy's corner hosts Three or More Tuesday. I don't think you'd consider this a collection, but I'd like to share three very special aprons. I think it's very fitting since this Sunday is Mother's Day.
I had these aprons made many years ago for me, my mother, and my mother in law for Mother's Day. I traced my children's hands and the prints are appliqued on in a cute yellow and red fabric. This would be an easy no-brainer project for almost anyone. But I may have told you; I was born without a craft "gene". I think the handprints could be done just as easily in paint. You crafty people know what kind will work. I have even seen white muslin aprons at the dollar store. See that little hand on the left? That is the handprint of our daughter who is getting married soon! Sadly, I am the owner of all three aprons now. Both grandmothers have passed away. But I know how much these aprons meant to them and wanted to share them with you. I know most of you have some special little hands in your lives! Thanks for letting me share these with you and Happy Mother's Day!
Head over to Tam's at http://gypsycorner.blogspot.com/! Tam has "three or more steps" to help you repair your own keepsakes and a list of participants just waiting to share with you!

ReplyDeleteHi Susan,
ReplyDeleteHappy 3 or more !

sweet is that ? Those kids grow up too fast !
Thanks for sharing and have a great day !

Hi there,
ReplyDeleteI think there is an 'issue' with my backwards head monkey. The tail is too suggestive!
They're so sweet!
ReplyDeleteI know that your mom and mom-in-law treasured them.
Lisa
I don't have a craft gene, either, so you're not alone! I think you did a great job on the aprons, and what a neat idea it was. I know your mom and mother-in-law cherished them.
ReplyDeleteThose are just adorable, Susan! Love the yellow and red as well as the sentiment. Awww...
ReplyDeleteI never liked Gibson dinnerware, I truly don't know why. It was more made obvious when I was at the same Goodwill back in late Feb, they had tons of dishes, and over 90% were Gibson.
I got frustrated turning over and lifting up the dishes. That's how I found out that I must not like their line at all. I mean most were intact sets and all I came home with was my Sheffield Blue Whisper teacup and dessert bowl. I think too, that my very first big flatware buy was a Gibson and they rusted after a month! So you see tainted in both products, LOL.
Those are great gifts-- from the heart.
ReplyDeleteWhat precious keepsakes. I love the little handprints. They are grown so fast. Hugs, Marty
ReplyDeleteThese aprons are truly special; you made them and both grandmothers enjoyed them as keepsakes celebrating family.
ReplyDeleteSusan,
ReplyDeleteWhat a sweet, sentimental collection. I think the best collections are the ones that hold something near and dear in our hearts. Everything else can be just ordinary. Thanks for sharing and congratulations on the upcoming wedding!
So sweet.

What a sweet and original idea. I think I have little handprints of my children from when they were in kindergarten or close to that, just done on paper. They are big goons now and leave me only fingerprints on everything!
ReplyDeleteSweet post Susan! :-D
xoxo

What a great idea! I'm sure the grandmothers loved these aprons and wore them proudly. For someone without a craft gene, you sure came up with a fabulous thing to craft! laurie
ReplyDeleteIt is sad that you have all 3 aprons now, but how wonderful that both grandmothers were able to have them, love them, use them. They are lovely. What sweet treasures.

That is one of the nicest keepsakes I've ever seen! Aren't you so glad you did this and now have them as keepsakes?
ReplyDeleteYears ago my sister in law purchased a white tablecloth for her sons. For each birthday she had all the guests write their names and maybe a picture. It is the neatest thing. Reminds me of your aprons!
