Four Good Reasons to Celebrate

Memphis TN has gotten a lot of bad press lately. Seems it's always showing up on a list of the top twenty worst something or others. But no more! It's time to celebrate! Last night two young women from Memphis made it into the final top thirteen in the American Idol competition!

Alexis Grace, above, was chosen in round one. Alexis is just twenty one years old and has a voice that sounds a lot older and more experienced. She wowed everybody! She is a mom and has since gotten rid of the purple hair. Lil Rounds, on the left, knocked the socks off the judges with a song by Mary J. Blige. Even the curmudgeonly Simon was impressed. Lil is also a mother---of three!! Finally, another Midsoutherner, Jasmine Murray on the top right was chosen in last night's wild card competition. Jasmine is from Mississsippi and just SIXTEEN years old! I am so proud of and for these talented young women. This one of the only shows Beloved and I can agree on and I can't wait to see how it all turns out! Last, but not least, I am celebrating my Let's Be Friends" Award from LauraLu at hiddenpromises.blogspot.com/. She is so gracious and I appreciate it so much. I am passing it along to the first people who commented on my blog, because their comments meant so much to me and gave me the encouragement I needed.

My instructions were this: Please give more attention to these writers. When you receive your award pass it on to eight or more people who must choose eight or more. Include this cleverly written text and a link to their blogs. Then let them know they've been selected.

And one last thing I'm celebrating....I posted some pictures!!! Yes, the layout is crazy. You have no idea how long it took for me to figure this out. So, crazy layout or not, I'm celebrating!

  1. Hi Susan!

Thanks so much for the award! I so appreciate it! I will be sure and bring it over to our site when I can...(it's 4:30 in the morning here and I couldn't sleep, but now am too loopy!) hee hee I will post back to you too! We've been so busy this week I still have not made your awesome recipe for sweet tea, but plan on doing so this weekend and will talk about it on a post too! Thank you so much for the recipe and for the fun award!

  2. Susan, Thanks so much for the award. You are so nice! I have been waiting for Amer.Idol to get through the craziness and get with the serious competition. Thanks for the update on those 3 - I'll be watching for them. Also, about tea, I am a tea drinker, too. Love Earl Gray and Big.'s lemon lift as well. I make my sweet just about like you, only I use a family size tea bag, a quart of water and 1/2 cup sugar AND I put in a mint tea bag (either plantation mint of peppermint). It's good for a change. Let me know if you try it and like it. Linda

  3. Mornin' Susan! Are you from Memphis? I've lived here all my life! We're in Germantown! Alas, I don't watch American Idol but I have a link to Amy! I graduated from Central High and her uncle was a classmate...we recently had a reunion (30th!) and our class guestbook online was telling everyone to watch for her! I'm a Dancing with the Stars fanatic myself! Can't wait til next week! God Bless! Lauralu :)

  7. Thank you so much for your words of encouragement. I am just so glad to be able to be a stay at home, homeschooling mom so that I can take the time to really focus on issues as they come up. Hope you have a wonderful day today. Our weather has been gorgeous.
